Minister's Message

Minister Garrett

I’d like to warmly welcome you to youth.gov.au, the Australian Government’s central hub for information on services and programs for young people.

As Minister for Youth, it’s my role to be an advocate and champion for the nearly 4 million young people across Australia.

This website is about making sure that young people, their parents and families and the youth sector can easily tap into help and information.

The Government knows that our success as a nation is linked to the positive development of all young people.

That’s why we have made a multi-billion dollar investment in youth affairs, including more than $64 billion for schooling over four years, and investments in physical and mental health, tertiary and vocational education and community services.

My vision for young Australians is that they are active, productive members of our community – able to make their own way, resilient in the face of whatever difficulties they encounter, confident in seeking help when needed, and a source of energy and ideas for the wellbeing of the nation.

Youth.gov.au brings together everything that the Government is doing to help bring this vision to life, through up-to-date news and events and important information on topics like health, education, work, community, environment and finances.

I’d encourage all young Australians and the people that matter to them to take a look around youth.gov.au, and make the most of the valuable information and support available.

Peter Garrett
Minister for Youth
